Macbeth Relationship Analysis Essay Example for Free

Macbeth Relationship Analysis Essay I found the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth very interesting in the play. In Act I they are completely devoted to each other. Love, respect and trust are the contents of their relationship. The trust in the relationship is revealed right at the beginning when Macbeth sends his wife a letter telling her about the witches and the predictions â€Å"This have I thought good to deliver to thee, my dearest partner of greatness, that thee mightst not lose the dues of rejoicing by being ignorant of what greatness is promised thee. † (I, v, 10-13). The affection between the two is clearly shown when Macbeth salutes his wife with â€Å"My dearest love† (I, v, 58) and also on the letter where he says â€Å"†¦my dearest partner of greatness†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (I, v, 11). The respect comes when Macbeth listens to his wife, which talks about the murder. He respects her opinion and gives her a polite answer â€Å"We will speak further.† (I, v, 71). In Act I, ii we see that King Duncan considers Macbeth a brave soldier and good man â€Å"O valiant cousin, worthy gentleman!† (King Duncan, I, ii, 24). This can be considered a weakness or, perhaps, strength in the relationship, it depends on the point of view. It is a weakness if we analyze Macbeth’s side. He is â€Å"†¦too full o’ the milk of human kindness†¦ that wouldst thou holily; wouldst not play false†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (I, v, 16 21). It is strength if we analyze Lady Macbeth’s side. She has a very strong nature and knows Macbeth’s weak points, therefore manipulating and controlling the relationship. She uses of a great argument in Act I, vii accusing Macbeth for not having the courage to do what he wants â€Å"Wouldst thou have that which steem’ st the ornament of life, and live a coward in thine own steem, letting â€Å"I dare not† wait upon

Pericles’ Ideology of Democratic Society.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Democracy of today can be traced back to the Funeral Oration speech of Pericles‘. We can outline the ideology behind democracy from his speech. Democracy is now the largest form of government to exist in today’s society. There are two forms of democracy’s that exist: Representational which is used by the United States, and Direct which allows the people to get involved and was used by the Greeks. So its said that Athenian democracy are more democratic than ours. Some even say that Pericles’ speech is the foundation of democratic society.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The speech of Pericles’ was not only a tribute to those who died in battle but it was also a contrast between the warring powers of Athens and Sparta, recorded by the historian Thucydides. In Athens society it was custom for someone of the community to give an acclamation speech for those who died in war. Pericles’ was chosen and gave a spectacular speech which sounds a lot like the speeches we hear today from other leaders of a democratic government. Pericles’ speaks about the special qualities and characteristics of the Athenians, and the faults of the Spartans.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The theme of the speech is the thought that the Athenians were able to put aside what they want and strive for the greater good of the city. They are brought together by their mutual trust and a shared desire for freedom. Athenians submit to the laws and obey the public officials not because they have to, but because they want to. Athenians had achieved something unique ,being both ruled and rulers at one and the same time. This helped to create a new type of civilian. Athenians were able to adapt to any situation and rise to any challenge.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Athenian law was not all written in books, based on peoples judgment the laws were administered on the guilty. According to Pericles’ â€Å"Our Constitution does not copy the laws of neighboring states; we are rather a model to others than imitators ourselves,† this quote shows the Constitution is an inspiration to other government systems.

Radical Leadership Essay

1.Describe Ricardo Semler’s leadership style. What do you think the advantages and drawbacks of his style might be? Ask your students to select two leadership models that would help to portray Ricardo Semler’s leadership style. In his own words, Semler is the â€Å"leading proponent and most tireless evangelist† of participative management. He places little emphasis on traditional features of corporate management as he avoids written rules, policy manuals, dress codes, and organization charts. Semler empowers employees to make managerial decisions, including strategic plans and leadership positions for the company. Challenges incurred in implementing Semler’s leadership style might occur in the recruitment of qualified individuals who are a good fit for this organizational culture and providing the training and development needed for employees in this type of work environment. 2.What challenges might a radically â€Å"hands-off† leader face? How could those challenges be addressed? A manager who adopts a radically hands-off leadership style faces challenges as well as opportunities for managerial success. In using this style, a leader places a great amount of trust in the ability of employees and in their dedication to the achievement of organizational goals. The efforts required to reach these goals may require a willingness by employees to â€Å"go the extra mile† and to show a high degree of devotion to the fulfillment of the leader’s vision for the company. A leader who uses the participative management approach should support training and development programs for employees in order to equip them for empowerment and leadership roles. This leader must be an individual who gives credit to the employees who are responsible for the successes of the organization. Moreover, a leader who adopts the participative management approach should recruit and train for diversity. The implications for training involve emphasis on situational and contingency models. Managers must be willing to seek employees who have strengths that are lacking in management. By hiring employees who supply needed qualities and skills, managers are gaining employees whose strengths complement the skills and talents already present in the organization. 3.How could future leaders be identified in this organization? Would leadership training be important to this organization? Discuss. By exercising the responsibility and authority already given to them by management, employees of Semler are preparing to be future leaders of the organization in their work every day. These employees are truly learning by doing—one of the most effective methods of training. By empowering his employees, Ricardo Semler enjoys the opportunity to observe their skills, dedication, and leadership qualities firsthand. Thus, his ability to identify potential leaders is greatly enhanced by his leadership style. 4.What could other businesses learn from Ricardo Semler’s approach to leadership? Managers in other businesses could learn about the benefits of empowering and equipping employees to make major managerial contributions to an organization. By carefully observing and studying Semler’s leadership style, other leaders could gain insight into the value of establishing trust between employees and management and demonstrating confidence in employees’ ability to assume leadership roles.

Essay on Radical Feminism on Lana Del Rey - 1433 Words

â€Å"The conduct and manners of women, in fact, evidently prove that their minds are not in a healthy state; for, like the flowers which are planted in too rich a soil, strength and usefulness are sacrificed to beauty; and the flaunting leaves, after having pleased a fastidious eye, fade, disregarded on the stalk, long before the season when they ought to have arrived at maturity† (Wollstonecraft 7). This is a view in which several feminists abide with and can relate to; the idea that women have the wrong intentions and goals for their lives, that they are treated like children and are predestined to act like children, instead of adults. Although the Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft was written in 1972, this†¦show more content†¦It is the idea what the male will always be the dominant character and will always be in charge of the important decision. Women are treated almost equal to children. â€Å"Women are conditioned to a passive sexual r ole† (Heywood 242), Radical feminists seek to abolish the sexual roles which have been assigned to women; they seek to exterminate that image of the dominance of men over women in rap videos and movies. The main issues of radical feminism are womens liberation, patriarchy, gender equality and sexual politics. The progress in which feminists occur to achieve is set back daily by the media and individuals such as Lana Del Rey. Within the album Born to Die, there are several songs with lyrics that display a meaning which defeats the purpose of what radical feminists are attempting to achieve in todays day and age. The lyrics on Lana Del Reys album present self destructive behaviour which shows a lack of self respect. In the song Gods and Monsters, Del Rey sings the lyrics â€Å"No ones gonna take my soul away, Im living like Jim Morrison, headed towards a fucked up holiday, motel spree sprees and Im singing, fuck yeah give it to me this is heaven what I truly want, its innocenc e lost.† This is a display of a lack of self respect and therefore gives men the idea that they can disrespect women, and use them for sexual pleasure. The man she refers to, Jim Morrison, was a famous celebrity who died due to a drug overdose. He
